Friday the 12th of September 2008 was the day of Teso Safe Motherhood Project Grand Opening. The project had been working at the same site as the Soroti IDP Medical and Maternal Centre, but as the situation changed with the IDPs relocating and famine hitting various regions of Teso, the mission was re-organised to meet the changes. Teso Safe Motherhood was registered as a CBO in Soroti, and that registration was finalised in the months leading up to September. (In August 2009, the National NGO Board approved TSMP's application to become a Ugandan NGO!) On the 12th of September, the LC5, the LC1 and the mayor all attended.  Members of the clergy, including the Vicar from St. Peter’s and a Baptist Minister, oversaw blessing the place.
